His most recent album, "The Devil You Know," comes right out and says it all. His music touches base with many issues including Bush, prostitution, drug use, poverty and the plight of the middle class. While these topics may seem ominous, Snider makes it all come out funny in the end, with careful plays on words and a strategic edge that has been developed over his seven prior albums.
"You Got Away With It…( A Tale of Two Fraternity Brothers)," the fifth track of his new album, pushes the envelope with its spin showcasing the conspiracies of the Bush presidency from another (rather humorous) angle.
Each song in its own way comes back to the injustice of poverty and our government. Its refreshing sound leaves the mind reflecting on these controversial ideas without leaving an unfriendly aftertaste of fanaticism.
With an eclectic group of musicians pushing the aural experience to the next level, Snider's most recent recordings are sure to turn heads. I know I found myself bobbing to the tunes as they danced out of my speakers. It is fun, relaxed and open for all. This new album just might find a niche in almost anyone's personal collection, and even if the whole album is not your thing, just grab a couple of MP3s. They'll give your day a little more humor and a little less agony in those long walks between classes and indefinite waits in hallways, breezeways and lunch lines.
