The Big Move

After months of living in a house with cardboard boxes crammed in every empty space, my family and I are finally moving. Yes, I said my family and I, I'm not ashamed to say that I still live with my mom. Y'all know it's hard out there for a pimp. And for students, too, so I'm not going to turn down minimal rent.
We've lived in the increasingly awful Ridge Pointe Apartments for the past five years. If you haven't heard about these apartments on the news, I'm surprised. There is a story on KCTV 5 like every week. We didn't have air conditioning for most of the summer. The management took our rental money and skipped town. The city threatened to close the entire complex down and force everyone to move out because the management racked up a $26,000 water bill and an even higher gas bill. Three buildings' worth of tenants had to move out in three days because the city deemed the property uninhabitable. For the past two months, we've had no management what so ever and fires break out on the property almost continually. Yeah, it's not a nice place to live. Oh, I forgot to mention there's no trash pickup service because management didn't pay that bill either.
So now we're moving to a nice place off 99th and Wornall. It's only a two bedroom so my mom is sticking me in the finished basement. I don't know if I should take being in the basement as a blessing because I can have company over without disturbing my mom. Or, if this is really a way for her to hint that she wants me out.
It really is a nice basement. It has a bar area with a sink and cabinets. I'm thinking of putting a mini fridge and microwave there. There's a fireplace, half a bath, and patio doors that lead outside. The only thing I'm worried about is the lack of a closet. I have tons of clothes, shoes, purses, and various shit stored in my closet now, and I have no idea how this will translate to the new space.
I see an armoire in my future. Funny, whenever I see that word, I think of the talking one from Disney's animated Beauty and the Beast. But I digress; I guess I should get to packing already.
