The UMKC men's and women's track and field team split up this week to attend meets at both Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Mo., and Iowa State University (ISU) in Ames, Iowa.

The ISU Classic kicked off Friday with the Roos posting multiple season bests.

In the 200-meter all the Kangaroos finished with a season best. For the men, sophomores Nathan Buie, Kenny Webb and Peter Kisicki crossed the finish line in 22.58, 22.72 and 23.21 seconds, respectively.

Seniors Russell Dotson, 23.74, and Damian Alexis, 23.21, also posted season bests.

Stephanie Williams, sophomore, and Maggie Bruggeman-Butler, senior, also bettered their times from last year, finishing in 25.99 and 26.08, respectively.

Christine Ensign, senior, was UMKC top finisher for the day. Ensign took 16th in the 5000-meter with a time of 17:16.95.

The meet continued Saturday, and the Roos again improved on their season.

Ensign finished strong in the 3000-meter. Her 10:07.35 finish, good enough for 24th, was the top time for UMKC this season by 14 seconds.

Cynise Hylton, freshman, tied the team's season best mark in the triple-jump with 11.61 meters. Khadian Kelly, junior, was right behind her; she finished with a distance of 11.60 meters.

Dotson achieved a season best in the 60-meter. He finished the race in 7.16 seconds. Anthony Boyer, freshman, crossed the line in 7.26 seconds.

Meanwhile in Warrensburg, the Roos had several top-10 finishes Friday night.

Nicole Kofron, sophomore, finished sixth in the pole vault; she cleared a 10-11 3/4 height.

Saturday events started at 10 a.m. with the men's relays, but the Kangaroos' highest finish of the day came from freshman Charlie Larsen, in the triple jump. Larsen finished with a distance of 45-3 1/2 to take third in the event.

Sophomores Kaleb Stoppel and Colin Smith finished sixth and eighth in the high jump, with respective heights of 6-4 3/4 and 6-2 3/4.
