As a whole, the team shot well from three-point range in the second half at 60 percent. UMKC also had 11 assists and only six turnovers in the second half.

Overton reflected after the game.

"Our players really fought hard today, and that is one of the reasons we won…" said Overton. "It's great to win."

Saturday night's game was a chance for the Roos to get even with the IUPUI Jaguars. They came to Kansas City on Jan. 14 and beat the Roos 46-63. However, UMKC was not able to avenge their earlier loss; they lost 46-57.

The game in Indianapolis over the weekend was not really ever very close. The last time the Kangaroos had the lead was with 13:50 left in the half, when they were up 9-7. The IUPUI Jaguars then went on a 17-2 run. After that, IUPUI led the entire game, at one point by 21 points.

The Kangaroos did not shoot well from the field, only 32 percent for the game. They were stronger offensively in the second half, outscoring IUPUI 26-25. They ended the game on an 11-2 run. However, the team could not dig itself out of the hole created in the first half.

Stephanie Brown played a great game despite the loss and earned herself a double-double. She scored 20 points, 10 rebounds, and also had two steals.

While Brown was the leading scorer, Leigh Mead played well with nine points and five assists. All nine points were from three-point range, and all 10 of her attempts were as well.

The Roos out-rebounded IUPUI 37-33 and had more team steals. They just did not shoot the ball as well. UMKC also gave the Jaguars 10 more free throw attempts.

Defensively, the Kangaroos were not as sharp on Saturday as they had been at home earlier this week. They allowed IUPUI to shoot nearly 46 percent from the field for the game. IUPUI shot even better from three point range at 50 percent for the game.

Though UMKC lost 46-57, IUPUI is a strong team with only one conference loss. That loss came to Western Illinois, the only undefeated team in the conference.

The Roos look to bounce back from the loss Saturday when they travel to Oral Roberts University on Jan. 23. The following game is Jan. 28 at Centenary in Shreveport, La. The conference tournament begins March 4 in Tulsa, Okla.
