The UMKC men's basketball team lost to North Dakota State University (NDSU) Tuesday night at Bison Sports Arena in Fargo, N.D.

A three pointer put the Bisons up early in the game but a jump shot by Dane Brumagin, freshman, brought the Kangaroos within one point. Over the next two minutes NDSU had control of the ball, shooting a jump shot and a three pointer to take a six point advantage. UMKC's Kalu Guasco, senior, nailed a jump shot to bring the score to 4-8.

At 15:45 the Bisons completed a jump shot extending their lead, but the Kangaroos answered right back with a three pointer by Dee Ayuba, junior, narrowing the gap to three, 7-10. It was as close as they would come.

North Dakota State dominated the remainder of the half and limited UMKC to six points.

Over the next five minutes NDSU scored seven unanswered points. With 10 minutes left in the game, Kyle Spears, junior, scored two, which put the Roos within eight points. A three pointer by Tim Blackwell, sophomore, and a foul shot by Blake Crawford, junior, rounded out the half for UMKC.

NDSU led 45-17 going into the locker room.

A jump shot started the second half for the Bisons but the Kangaroos answered right back with a three pointer from Blackwell. The next five points went to NDSU. Then a three pointer by Dee Ayuba, junior, assisted by Brent Stephens, sophomore, brought the score to 23-52.

At 16:00 Brian Gettinger, freshman, sank a three pointer. Twenty seconds later Quinton Day, junior, nailed a lay-up. The Bisons scored two on the next possession and immediately after a jumper by Stephens to make the score 30-57.

At 12:35 Day sank a three pointer, but the Bisons scored five points and pulled ahead to a 29-point lead. NDSU maintained a 20-plus point lead through the rest of the game. With two minutes of play left UMKC narrowed the gap to 21 with another three from Day.

The Bisons won 87-63.

Day, who remained scoreless in the first half, finished with a game high 24 points, five assists and two steals. Blackwell finished with 10 points. Ayuba was right behind with eight. Ayuba also had two assists, two steals and three rebounds, two of which were offensive.
