The venture involves setting up a deanship for the entire program of undergraduate studies, which would be similar to the structure of the graduate program.
"One of the questions we've been asking for a while is, should we have a mirror administrative structure for undergraduate education to that of graduate education? We haven't decided yet," said Interim Provost Bruce Bubacz. "We need to have someone look at this question and give us an answer and see if it is something we ought to be doing."
LeBeau was the man chosen to look into this matter.
"He's doing a lot of reading on this, but he's also contacting schools that have recently gone to an undergraduate dean structure," said Bubacz.
Although LeBeau is still considered a professor of history, he will not teach this semester. His salary remains the same.
When asked if the assignment is a promotion or demotion for the former dean, Bubacz said, "There's no way to answer that question-it's neither. It's a different project that he's working on."
The project is currently in the research stage.
"We're simply looking at the possibility of doing this," said Bubacz. "We don't know if we're going to do it."
The U-News will continue to cover this story as it progresses.
