Our organization is non-partisan and welcomes members from diverse backgrounds to work for peace and social justice within the UMKC community and world at large. In December we participated in the International Day of Human Rights by writing letters to prisoners of conscience and Missouri death-row inmates.
Despite being formed only a semester ago, our organization has many aspirations for the future, including human rights-themed movie nights, letter-writing campaigns and attending the Amnesty National Conference in Portland, Ore.
Join us at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2 in the Oak St. Residence Hall lounge for pizza and a film. Discussion of the film will follow. No admission is required other than an open mind and willingness to meet new people.
We encourage UMKC students to take advantage of the opportunities our organization has to offer.
