Cherise Erickson, Rachael Hudson and Sally Meiners have all signed letters of intent to continue their golf career at UMKC.
Head Coach Mike Rhodes released a statement saying, "[The girls] have a chance to come here and be an outstanding freshmen class for us next fall. I believe these players will have an immediate impact in helping our program continue to improve."
Ericson, a native of Salina, Kan., is a National Honor Society member and intends on majoring in pharmacy. She was the individual medalist at the Kansas State Meet in 2005 while a senior at Salina South High School. Ericson is a three-year letter winner who finished her junior season with a 17th place showing at the State meet and a second-place finish in the conference tournament.
Mieners, a local from Notre Dame de Sion High School, finished in the top 12 at the state meet in each of her last three seasons. She took seventh as a sophomore, 12th as a junior and had a fifth-place finish in this year's tournament. She intends to major in either business or architecture.
Hudson comes to UMKC from Blue Springs, Mo. She plans to enter the nursing program. Hudson has been a top-four finisher at the Missouri State Meet both her junior and senior years at Blue Springs South High School. She took fourth-place honors her junior year and was the individual runner-up in the 2005 season.
The Kangaroos open their spring season March 10-11 in Springlake, Fla., at the Springlake Women's Intercollegiate.
Softball signs three for 2007
Christina Lemon, Robyn Sadowski and Sunceray Titus will join the UMKC women's softball team for the 2007 season.
"We're excited to sign [the girls] to our program," said Head Coach Carla Marchetti. "These three student-athletes will be valuable additions to our team both on and off the playing field. All three fit our program very well, and we're anxious to get them on the diamond."
Lemon, a native of Ankeny, Iowa, is a two-year letter winner at Ankeny High School. She is the first player from her hometown to sign with a Division I program in nearly a decade. As a junior in 2005 she was a second team all-conference selection, a first team all-district honoree and a 4A honorable mention all-state selection.
