The majority of last Wednesday Student Government Association (SGA) Senate meeting went to job evaluations. Positions being examined included president, executive vice president and administrative vice president and comptroller.

Also, Administrative Vice President Sharan Srinivas announced his resignation effective Dec. 31. His visa status was approved and he will now graduate this December.

"I've had a great experience at UMKC," Srinivas said.

The executive council has chosen Vasudeva Ramaswamy, senior, business, to replace Srinivas. Ramaswamy must receive confirmation at the first senate meeting next semester.

He worked with Srinivas on Model UN.

"He has a proven track record of student leadership at UMKC," Srinivas said.

Job performance reviews

Job reviews included committee involvement and attendance as well as evaluation of how they've fulfilled written position requirements.

Executive Vice President Sofya Galich received a job evaluation rating of two from the senate. Senators agreed in order for Galich to receive a one rating and receive her compensation, she must provide a full list of campus-wide committees.

Discussion during SGA President Marcus Leach's job evaluation was heated.

Leach and senators alike expressed frustration with the way senate was functioning as well as interaction between the president and senators.

Senators voted to reconsider resolutions vetoed by Leach. One resolution seeks senate approval for SGA Operations Budget expenditures over $50, while the other calls for a bylaw change for a seven-day deadline on presidential vetoes. Leach affirmed his veto right and said senate must wait for the next meeting to vote on overriding a veto.

Other senators disagreed with this interpretation of the SGA constitution and said they were within their rights to revote at this meeting.

"I don't know where you're reading things from," Sen. Greg Giese said. "You're wanting to read in and make your own rules."
