Art Salon show a success

Art Salon, a presentation of the UMKC Student Art League (SAL), occupied a spot in the gallery district this last Friday night. Former SAL president and Art Salon organizer Vien "Vinnie" Tran was very excited about all things Art Salon. "We are very happy about the turnout and with the way things went," Tran said.

Cheesesteak: It's not just from Philly anymore

The original Boston Cheesesteak Co. in Westport has the know-how to construct some audacious sub sandwiches. Hot or cold, with or without extras, the varied menu offers everything from chicken parmesan to a cheese steak to die for. The blue awning over the door at 415 Westport Road proclaims "a sandwich revolution" and customers are given a friendly greeting from the counter at the far end of the restaurant upon entry.

I like to watch: Gibson is a good soldier

On Screen: "We Were Soldiers…" 2002, directed by Randall Wallace. War is still Hell, but it's a bit cooler there with Mel Gibson and Sam Elliot leading the way. Director Randall Wallace has given us what is perhaps the first pro-military Vietnam War movie since John Wayne's "The Green Berets.
