The United States has a fair share of towns with interesting names: Hell, Mich., Peculiar, Mo. and Intercourse, Penn. to name a few: and now, American Heartland Theatre's (AHT) newest production helps add Tuna, Texas to that list. The play "A Tuna Christmas" by Jaston Williams is a comedic story that chronicles the annual less-than typical small town Christmas celebration.
I'll just lay it out for you: "Role Models" is funny. You should see it. Last week I was slightly disappointed in "Zack and Miri." This week it's the exact opposite. I had fairly low expectations, and was very pleasantly surprised by the outrageous profanity and hilariously crude (yet excellent) cast.
Talent was on display last Monday night in Pierson Auditorium for the Activity and Program Council's (APC) 14th Annual Talent Show. The emcee for the night was Lynn Koplitz, a New York-based comedian who has been featured on Comedy Central. Koplitz also co-stars with Joan Rivers in an Independent Film Channel (IFC) show called "Z Rock," and tours colleges around the country to do stand-up and host a variety of events.
Cardinology might not be every music lover's cup of tea, but any alt-country fans will fall for Ryan Adam's tenth album. Even if you don't define yourself as an "alt-country kid," however, this record will grow on you. Adam's compelling songwriting and unwillingness to let any style completely define him make this more than just a throwaway.
