Fire roasted pepper and chickpea salad

Maybe the rainy advent of fall is getting you down. Maybe you miss the sunshine and the heat. Well, making a creative salad out of fresh produce is one way to reclaim some of the perks of summer. Summer sings in a salad made from home-roasted red pepper, tomato, sprightly parsley and a substantial base of chickpeas.

'Rising Water' leaves a soggy mess

You would think a hurricane would change your life; that watching your house slowly consumed by floodwater might inspire your relationship with your spouse. In John Biguenet's bleak "Rising Water," this is simply not the case. "Rising Water" follows the lives of Sugar (Danny Cox) and Camille (Merle Moores), a New Orleans couple married for 30 years, as they struggle to survive the water from Hurricane Katrina swiftly overtaking their house.

New Kids on the Block

In 1986, five young boys from Boston released their first (and self-titled) album, "New Kids on the Block." The group saw little success and even less radio airtime in the beginning. They were not down for long though. With some major promotion and a few million screaming pre-teen girls, they produced three more albums (and a Christmas album) in the late '80s and early '90s, yielding several Billboard-topping singles and earning multi-platinum status on every album released.
