Swinney renovations are a big hit with patrons

Nearly six months after a $1.9 million construction effort began in winter 2008, renovations at Swinney Recreation Center (SRC) are complete as scheduled, according to Paris Saunders, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Auxiliary Services at UMKC. "Considering some of the challenges and design changes, we were pleased that we were able to keep it within budget and on time," Saunders said.

Hall Signs Contract Extension

Backed by the University of Missouri System and recently-installed University of Missouri-Kansas City Interim Chancellor Leo Morton, UMKC Athletic Director (AD) Tim Hall has signed a one-year contract extension. The agreement will keep Hall at the helm of Kangaroo athletics through 2012.

After more than a week of watching the Games of the XXIX Olympiad on television, online and ad nauseam, I paused this afternoon to reflect on my first exposure to the global event: the 1972 Olympics in Munich, West Germany. Granted, I was a pre-teenager at the time, but the impact those particular games left on me, and certainly many others who witnessed the event, remains idelible.
