Movie Review

'Shine a Light'

By David Coley

For me, concert films are a mixed bag. To me, it seems counterproductive for a film to try to reproduce the feeling of being at a live performance. It simply can't work. But that hasn't stopped people from trying. Director Martin Scorsese has been in this avenue before, having directed his chronicle of The Band in "The Last Waltz.

'Gee's Bend' draws audience

By Derek Campbell

"Ain't no lock gonna be on our door. Our door is always open to everyone." The strength and meaning of these words resonated from Kansas City Repertory Theatre's Copaken Stage on April 2, with a presentation of "Gee's Bend" by Elyzabeth Gregory Wilder. The play takes place in Gees Bend, Ala.

'Odd Couple' not odd enough

By Jordan Kerfeld

Gnarls Barkley's sophomore album "The Odd Couple" is a lot like sprinting on a treadmill. You're putting in work, but unfortunately you aren't going anywhere. After releasing 2006's "St. Elsewhere," many critics couldn't make heads or tails of the dynamic duo.

Last Thursday, a documentary film about Lou Harrison was shown at the Nichols Auditorium at the World War I Liberty Memorial.

They offer a menu full of dressed up and specialty burgers, a long list of beers, specialty bottled sodas, a few salads, fries, onion rings and milkshakes.

So you think you can dance?

These people actually can!

By Teresa Sheffield

We've all danced crazily in front of our mirrors and used hair brushes as microphones. Tuesday night, March 25, in the Pierson Auditorium, there were people who actually looked good while doing it. Students from all over campus gathered to watch b-boys dance, learn a little bit about the hip-hop culture and learn a few moves themselves.
