You could turn on the radio without hearing a bunch of privileged Emo kids griping about their parents. Corporate radio would occasionally play songs sitting outside of the top-40.
Several people gathered Tuesday Nov. 27 at the hidden chateau known as The Writers Place. Presenting from their recently published works, Clancy Martin and Deb Olin Unferth were presented by McSweeney's magazine, a San Francisco-based publication that boasts the work of authors such as Dave Eggers and Nick Hornby.

Zimmerman once said, "I consider myself a poet first and a musician second. I live like a poet and I'll die like a poet." He also said, "I think a poet is anybody who wouldn't call himself a poet.
Simply put, Jimmy Eat World's "Chase This Light" will appeal to fans but won't convert haters. Since I am neither one of these, their sixth studio album is a solid effort. It does not show a band maturing or alienating its fan base with inexplicable changes.
The Linda Hall library was originally the home of Herbert and Linda Hall, who left their estate for the public use as a library. Today, the library specializes in science and engineering and is located on the UMKC campus. Boasting original copies of books such as Darwin's "Origin of Species," a 14-acre arboretum, and historical exhibitions, the Linda Hall Library is easily one of the best resources on campus.
Everything about poet and novelist Kim Addonizio seemed to intrigue and amuse the audience Nov. 29 in the Mabee Center on the Rockhurst University campus. Addonizio was there as a guest of the Midwest Poets Society, currently celebrating 25 years in existence.
The Women's Center is collecting towels and washcloths for women in need at the Rose Brooks Center. The collection is in conjunction with the Clothesline Project as part of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence. "It's very important for domestic violence centers to provide the basic needs for the people that come through their shelter," said Cynthia Taylor, Women's Center Administrative Assistant.
