Kangaroos handle Centenary 63-47

The University of Missouri-Kansas City women snapped a three-game losing streak with a convincing 63-47 road win against the Ladies of Centenary College in Shreveport, La., Saturday afternoon. The Kangaroos were led by junior center Alysa Klein - who recorded her fifth double-double of the season, scoring 18 points and pulling down 11 rebounds - and freshman guard Chazny Morris, who poured in 16 points in her 23 minutes on the court.

Junior center Alysa Klein's fourth double-double of the season - which included 16 points, 17 rebounds and three blocked shots - proved to be not enough for the University of Missouri-Kansas City women's basketball team as they dropped their third straight game.

The University of Missouri-Kansas City men's basketball team faced the fiery shooting of Centenary College senior forward Alexander Starr in the first half, then fought all the way back to lead late in the second stanza before falling 69-68 in the final seconds of action.

Oral Roberts University (ORU) senior forward Caleb Green scored 20 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in a 74-68 victory over a late surging UMKC squad. Green, who played like a bully stealing someone's lunch money, recorded the double-double despite a hard-fought second half rally by the Roos.

Kangaroos split squad to compete in multiple competitions

The University of Missouri-Kansas City indoor track-and-field squad split up to participate in the University of Central Missouri (UCM) Relays, held in Warrensburg, Mo., last Thursday, and the Iowa State Classic, which took place in Ames, Iowa, last Friday and Saturday.

University of Missouri-Kansas City student-athlete Courtney Huber, a junior French major from Fort Zumwalt High School in St. Peters, Mo., is all about setting objectives. Academically, Huber aspires to obtain a degree in secondary education and become a high-school French teacher.

Drake serves up victory over UMKC The UMKC men's tennis squad fell for the second time in the 2007 season to the Drake University Bulldogs, 7-0. The match of the day came in doubles action between the two schools. Brazillian freshman Guilhemme Marsiglia and Botswanan freshman Bokang Setshogo of Drake defeated German freshman Dennis Schwarz and Bolivian freshman Erwin Quintanilla of UMKC 8-5 Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa.
