The UMKC rifle team set out guns a'blazin' in the first month of 2007. The team faced off against the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Lincoln, Neb., in a dual meet and finished January competing in the Roger Withrow Invitational in Murray, Ky. Though they had an impressive showing in Nebraska, the Roos were off the mark in falling to the Cornhusker squad 4616-4426.
UMKC took to the road Saturday night in Cedar City, Utah, and came up short again. The team extended its winless road record to 0-11 for the season as Southern Utah University rolled to a 66-59 victory. The candidates are Tim Hall, associate athletics director in charge of development at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio; and Todd Reeser, assistant athletics director and executive director of the Golden Knights Club for the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando, Fla.
Blue Jay women too much for Roos The UMKC women's tennis team faced a difficult early test and fell at the hands of the Creighton University Blue Jays 7-0 in Omaha, Neb., on Feb. 1. The matches were not close. The Roos managed to win just one game in the entire singles competition as junior Ashkara Reddy lost to Creighton senior Katie Chiu 0-6, 1-6.
