Should UMKC change its name back to the University of Kansas City?
"Being University of Kansas City by itself, you can establish your identity apart from MU. Being in the UM System, you're tied there, especially coming from the engineering department. ... We just got accreditation in 2001."

"I think it's worth considering. More autonomy is better than less. If we're more independent, we could make more of our own choices. So, if we're putting our money into it here, we ought to maybe have more choices what to do with it."

"I'm in favor of that. UMKC is kind of hard to say. I'm a cheerleader, but when we go 'Go KC!' then they're like 'You can't do that anymore, because you'll make everybody else mad because we're UMKC.' University of Kansas City would be a good change in my opinion."

"No. I'm one of those people that once I get stuck in my ways. Change is alright sometimes, but UMKC - I like that. I've got the shorts and stuff, all the memorabilia. If they turn it into the University of Kansas City it just won't be the same."

"I don't think so. We've built a reputation as UMKC and going back would just reverse that name recognition."

"We have a stronger city to boast. We should just keep the name. Columbia can do what they want."
