Health Sciences Bookstore Grand Opening: BBQ in front of bookstore at 11 a.m. Ribbon cutting at 2 p.m. Drawings for travel vouchers, digital camera, printer, gift cards and a $500 textbook scholarship. UMKC Health Sciences Bookstore, 2418 Charlotte St., 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Spring Fling Roo Fair: Learn about student organizations while getting free food and prizes. University Walkway, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sustainable UMKC Competition Celebration: Celebrate the winning ideas for making the campus more environmentally sustainable. Keynote speaker James W. Sheppard, Ph.D., professor of environmental philosophy, will present a lecture at 3 p.m. on the obstacles to climate change policy. Pierson Auditorium, 1-5 p.m.

Attendees will meet and listen to astronaut Sally Ride, America's first woman in space. Also featuring local female engineers and scientists, including UMKC professors and students.
