Student Union Referendum Plan
SGA Student Referendum
Students should be aware that they will be able to vote on an SGA Student Referendum concerning the establishment of a student fee to pay for the new Student Union on the dates of Tuesday, April 3; Wednesday, April 4; and Thursday, April 5.
Polling Times and Places
On-line voting with polling places set for April 3-5, 2007, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Royall Hall (3 days)
Law (1 day)
Education (1 day)
Residential: Cherry and Oak (3 days at each)U-Center (3 days)
Bloch (1 day)
Fine Arts & Conservatory (1 day)
SRC (2days)
Hospital Hill: Nursing, Pharmacy, Med., Dent. (3 days)
Epperson (1 day)
Referendum Language
I. UMKC students have the opportunity to build a state-of-the-art Student Union as part of a centrally located student-focused complex. The new Student Union will include student driven space, amenities, and interior designs emerging from institution benchmarks, student focus groups, interviews, and survey data. The new Student Union will also incorporate sustainable design principles. If approved, the new Student Union is projected to be complete by Fall 2010.
A. Ballot Question One: Do you support a new student fee to build a New Student Union?

B. Ballot Question Two: If a majority of students support a new student fee to build a New Student Union, which of the following two options do you favor (Select only ONE of the two options)?
? Option 1: A Student Union fee of $15.34 per credit hour (capped at 12 hours in Spring/Winter semester and 9 hours in summer semester) per student to build and operate a $40 million 110,000 square foot Student Union containing retail and lounge areas, student organization and meeting spaces with audio visual equipment, casual restaurant and recreational areas, and other student driven space? The fee will begin no later than Fall Semester 2008.
Option 2: A Student Union fee of $17.75 per credit hour (capped at 12 hours in Spring/Winter semester and 9 hours in summer semester) per student to build and operate a $46.3 million 127,000 square foot Student Union containing all elements in option one, as well as additional retail and lounge areas, meeting spaces with audio visual equipment, recreational areas, and shell space for long-term flexibility in use? The fee will begin no later than Fall Semester 2008.
