Could the lack of openness have anything to do with the fact the second investigation uncovered extreme unethical behavior on the part of the accusor eerily reeminiscent of the Duke Lacrosse accusor and the university further realizes that they paid out 1.1 million based on lies and intimidation - not on the part of the professors but on the part of the accusors themselves? Shame on the university for its incomprehensible fumbling of this case. Shame.

If the students of UMKC and the citizens of Kansas City would be as quick to jump on the university for not disclosing this information (see previous comment) as they were when the outlandish sexual discrimination lawsuit came out, there might be a chance to see what a blunder the university has made. In short, this lawsuit is built on lies that were disproved in multiple courts. UMKC is not letting this information out for a specific reason: To save face for letting a mammoth of a unnecessary settlement get away from a struggling budget. And all because of bureaucratic missteps, two fantastic researchers and educators have tarnished reputations. A true tragedy.

Where's the fire now?

On the other hand and where's the fire now - you're funny!

You're funny, On the other hand and where's the fire...

The investigation that led to the settlement involved all statements under oath and individuals in the depositions provided proof...even those within the School of Medicine...hmmm...wonder who that is?

The investigation by the university was NOT under oath....hmmm...makes you think about all the lies from the HRG or HOPE that could have been told to cover up guilty mistakes!

The blunder that the university has made was by believing people who were not under oath

You both make many of us laugh to think that you're defending people that there is fact and proof that they and those with them are not telling the truth, which is easy to do when you're not under oath!

More misinformation of course. Do you know everyone was deposed or provided sworn statements? No, you do not. Do you even know how many people were interviewed for the lawsuit. Well, it was no where near the number interviewed in the investigations. Doesn't the lack of disclosure of the new investigation results cause concerns? The university and the system made a mistake settling the case and now they want to cover it up and scapegoat the professors. That is the true blunder. You make me laugh talking about things that you know little about.

Well said - This person obviously doesn't know what has gone on. The truth of this massive blunder by UMKC will continue to play out in the coming months. And that's the only thing that matters - The truth.

keep hoping

OBVIOUSLY neither of you were involved in the depositions, b/c yes there are sworn statements BY MANY, many who probably work close with you and you don't even know it. Were you behind the closed doors with the professors? That's the only way you would know the truth. Those who were, provided hard evidence.

The lawsuit was never about the research potential of these profs..it was about their unprofessional behavior, the behavior that was behind closed doors, or should I say locked doors? They can do excellent research and still participate in unethical behaviors. They can still mentor students about research, not about professional behavior, however!

what is interesting as well is the number of complaints that have come from present students of the lab. Perhaps that is the reason for the delay of results?

As a current student, I want to be there for those who were hurt by this situation...I am shocked with the fact that other students want to join in blaming the victims. why? Especially given the fact that those who are blaming the victim, used to 1) participate in the unethical behaviors and are lying now (which there is hard proof of) or 2) used to support the victims with their concerns until they asked for a big fat raise from the professors to help keep them quiet.
