Election director resigns

Bridgett Johnson, junior, political science, resigned her post as election director Nov. 8.

"I was asked to resign by Sarah Lubischer [director of Student Life] to resign," Johnson said. "Not as an adviser, but as a friend."

Johnson said her authority and resources had been stripped and she would not have access to results of the new Student Union referendum. Lubischer said the results could be compromised with Johnson running the election, according to Johnson.

"I felt as though since my power was diminishing, it was a better idea for me personally to resign," Johnson said.

Lubischer will serve as interim election director. The position of election director has traditionally been held by a student.

The first election over which Lubischer will preside is for the Student Union referendum. Voting takes place Nov. 14 - 16.
