Study Abroad Fair: Begins at 11 a.m. at Pierson Auditorium in the University Center.

Beauty in Flight: Attend a fashion show benefitting the Rose Brooks domestic violence shelter. Event starts at 7:30 p.m. in Leawood's Park Place Development, 117th Street and Nall Avenue. Hispanic Heritage Month Kickoff Party: Celebrate the start of Hispanic Heritage month with UMKC's Afro-Latin Connection club. From 10:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. is a concert at Jardine's, 4536 Main St. All performers are members of the UMKC community. $3 cover charge, must be 21.
Crossroads Music Festival: The 5th annual Crossroads Music Fest highlights the best of Kansas City's arts and entertainment. Event takes place in the Crossroads District, 16th and McGee streets.
Chile Pepper Fest: Celebrate the world's spiciest vegetable at Powell Gardens. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., enjoy chef demonstrations, sample entries from local restaurants and special activities for kids. Regular admission to Powell Gardens applies, and an expanded variety of salsa peppers is available with a $5 Taste Tester Ticket.

Hangover Jazz Brunch: Enjoy jazz music, mimosas, Bloody Marys and a breakfast buffet that benefits Newhouse shelter. Brunch goes from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Phoenix Jazz Club, 302 W. 8th St. $15.
