Gettinger grabs pair of awards

UMKC redshirt junior basketball player Brian Gettinger who announced last month he would not return for his final year of eligibility picked up some good news this week.

Gettinger learned he had been selected to the NCAA Divion I-AAA Athletics Directors Association Scholar-Athlete Team. Recipients are required to hold at least a 3.20 grade point average and to have been a starter or a significant contributor to his/her squad.

The engineering major finished his basketball season with averages of 5.5 points per game while shooting 37 percent beyond the three-point arc. He holds a 3.742 grade point average in field of study.

Future Kangaroo named to All-Metro squad

Blue Valley High School senior Brianna Eldridge was named to the Kansas City Star All-Metro girls' basketball team. Eldridge, a 5'10" point guard has verbally committed to the Kangaroo women's basketball team, according to the Star.
