Men's SoccerThe Kangaroos traveled to Berkeley, Calif. this weekend to finish their exhibition season.

The Roos were defeated, 1-0.

California is ranked within the top 10 in five different men's soccer polls.

The game remained scoreless for either team until the 88th minute, when a corner kick turned into a goal by A.J. Soares for the Bears.

Roller Derby

Pump-Up Camp for 2010 try-outs has started. Practices are Tuesdays 8-10 p.m. and Sundays 8-10 a.m. or 10 a.m.-noon, held at Winwood Skate Center.

Volleyball

Aug. 28 and 29, the UMKC volleyball team traveled to Terre Haute, Ind. for the Best Western Sycamore Classic.

The Kangaroos came out on top of SIU Edwardsville 3 matches to 1 and dropped 1-3 to North Dakota on Friday. They turned around on Saturday and won 3-0 against Indiana State then fell to Akron 1-3.

This Tuesday, the team travels to Manhattan, Kan. to take on the Wildcats.

Bike 4 the Brain

On Sept. 7, Bike 4 the Brain will hold an event starting at Johnson County Mental Health Center. Bike 4 the Brain is an all-ages event designed to help the understanding and awareness of mental illnesses. Visit www.bikeforthebrain.org to register.
