Women's tennis at Tiger Invitational
The UMKC women's tennis team travelled to Columbia, Mo., last weekend to take part in the Missouri Tiger Invitational. In first round Friday matches, the doubles team of sophomores Chelsea Horner and Katherine Rist defeated the Drake University pairing of freshman Morgan Rainey and senior Kari Sloboth 8-3. In doubles, Yakominkich and freshman Jessica Ball were handed an 8-1 setback at the hands of St. Louis University (SLU) junior Joe Becker and freshman Hailee Elmore. They made a game effort in their following match against senior Tanja Hrovatic and freshman Hannah Esker but came up on the short end of an 8-6 result. UMKC sophomore Megan Titus dropped two straight matches to freshman Earlynn Lauer of Drake, 6-2, 6-1. Titus then faced SLU's Kasia Tomalak losing 6-1, 6-1. Caitlin Burke could not overcome Drake senior Sarah Plowman who took care of the UMKC senior 6-3, 6-1 in consecutive sets. Cross country team in State Classic
