Digging 1,000

Reaching for the stars - Junior Mandy Tipton made her 1,000th career dig Friday Nov. 2.

"When I was a freshman it was one of my goals," Tipton said, "and I thought I was looking at one of the last games my senior year. I surprised myself by getting it in my junior season."

While Tipton remembered the past, head volleyball coach Geno Frugoli looked to the future.

"I think it is a great milestone for her and she will be on track to beat the school record next year," Frugoli said.

Currently, Angela Melka holds the UMKC record for career digs with 1,239. -Elyssa Brogdon
